We are a manufacturer of construction equipment and would like to know
if there is any way to select optional equipment and have R/3 assign a
unique identification number based on the selection. From my
new, limited knowledge of R/3, the configurator can do this. However,
if the same optional equipment is selected for the same item again, a
different configurator number will be assigned. We would like the system
to assign the same number each time the same equipment is selected.

I have been told there are some problems from a costing aspect with using
the configurator. We would like the costs to roll up based on the
options selected.

During our manufacturing process, we assign serial numbers to our units.
Can we assign serial numbers to work orders ? Is anyone out there using
any serial control in their business ?

Any help would be appreciated...thanks
Gregs--
