Hi Uwe,
As far as I believe there is no need to modify APAB sources.
When the SAP system is printing, it executes the statement found in the
profile as "rspo/host_spool/print". This statement ist called with
parameters telling about the file name it is going to print, number
of copies, printer name in SAP etc.
When the above ment. parameter is changed to a script, you have full
access to the parameters and you can do what you want to with the file.
We are using this approach for transferring some of the (large)
printouts to a remote (MVS) system where a really big printer is
attached.
This approach is fairly well supported and documented as DOC # 6753,
obtainable from SAP via OSS or FAX. From my point of view there are
only two drawbacks:
a) you get the file only when its going to be printed, not when the
spool dataset is created
b) you dont know the client number (we give each client a different
printer, so we know the client number from the printer name).
