Hello Everyone,

This question is not related to S-PLUS, but I figured someone on this 
list would know the answer.  I'm looking for a reference.  I know I 
once read that the hole in the ozone layer above the South Pole would 
have been discovered sooner except that the software used to process 
the satellite data routinely deleted "outliers".  I'm pretty sure I saw 
this in a textbook somewhere, but maybe I saw it in an article.  If you 
have any idea where I might find this information, I'd really 
appreciate it.
