[S] SPLUS 2000 -- _Data, _Prefs doesn't work

I use SPLUS 2000. I make subdirectories _Data, _Prefs
at the current directory and start "splus". The command doesnt' show
that current directory is used. Rather it uses the directory
specified during installation.
In SPLUS 4.0 it works well.
Is this an change in SPLUS ? how do we fix it ?
