The Projects Database
Team Leaders:
Back at the end of January, I gave you a talk on the soon to be released
Projects Database. I promised to be back to you in two weeks with
information on how you could use it. And then you didn't hear from me
for two months until now.
What happened?
Well, I could truly provide you sixty excuses, because nearly every day
between then and now, it seemed as if "tomorrow" things would be in a
shape where I could send you a note. Instead I held off until I could
say this:

is now UP and ready for your use as a LIVE project tracking database.
The projects we knew about are there.
The database is being backed up.
The service is live.
(If you don't have a certificate to access the database,
https://bozo.mit.edu/cert.html
is where you go to get one.)
Soon we will give a tutorial in the E40 visitor's center.
Please begin NOW to use the system to register, report, and track their
projects.
We expect that the system will be easy to use, and robust in fulfilling
your needs.
If, in the course of using the system, you encounter problems, or have
suggestions about what should be changed, send email to:
project-db@mit.edu
The delivery team will be reviewing all reports. We plan to incorporate
the suggestions you make in a version 2 release scheduled for roll-out
sometime in June. (My personal hope is that delaying the roll out meant
that there will be fewer problems, and few required changes for version
2.)
