The attached message was sent to the Internationalization (I18N) SIG
distribution list. We are sending it also to the DCE SIG list
just to highlight the fact that the DCE SIG Internationalization
Working Group meeting originally scheduled for November 1 has been
merged into the I18N SIG meeting on November 2.
There are no internationalization or localization meetings planned
for November 1. If you are interested in these topics, please
attend the I18N SIG meeting on November 2.

Item Subject: I18N SIG Agenda
The OSF Internationalization (I18N) SIG will meet on Wednesday, Nov. 2
at the Newton (suburb of Boston) Marriott Hotel as part of the OSF
SuperSIG Week '94. We have decided to combine the other I18N and L10N
work groups (originally scheduled for November 1) with this meeting.
Therefore, there will NOT be I18N and/or L10N working group meetings
held as part of the DCE/DME SIG on November 1.
At the combined meeting on November 2, in addition to discussing
the status of internationalization and localization in OSF
technologies, a major theme will be how to proceed as a SIG in the
"new world" of OSF. This world is characterized by the use of the
Prestructured Technology (PST) process instead of the Request
for Technology (RFT) process originated by OSF. How do SIGs fit in?
This is a topic of interest to many of the SIGs, and we expect that it
will be covered in plenary sessions and other SIGs as well.
All SIG meetings on November 2 are scheduled to begin at 8:30 A.M.
The agenda items for the I18N SIG meeting are as follows:
Welcome, logistics, agenda Terry Rowan, IBM
Jon Bale, HP
Summary of earlier SuperSIG sessions/material Sandra O'Donnell, OSF
relating to continuing I18N SIG work,
e.g., discussion of public PSTs, how SIGs
influence PSTs, I18N considerations in
upcoming projects, etc.
Review of OSF DCE post 1.1 requirements -- Sue Kline, HP
priorities according to voting
Status of OSF's DCE 1.1 localization program John Raleigh, OSF
Lunch
Discussion on future work and meeting schedule
of this SIG
Adjourn
We look forward to seeing you at the meeting.
Best regards,
Jon Bale, HP
