|> Why was this drivel posted to this list?
UFO'ers are usually anti-government (as are many conspiracy buffs).
Perhaps he thought he'd have an audience?
IMHO most of the (non hoax) UFO craze is due to military cover-ups
of experimental aircraft tests (and/or failures). There was a
Popular Science covery story in the last year about this air base
in Nevada somewhere that the government still denies exists, even
though you can drive up to a mountain top and look down on the
base and so forth. Some people just assume their government wouldn't
lie to them so blatantly unless there were severe implications, when
in fact the government tends to be very secretive about almost anything
(ever try to get a FOIA request satisfied?) A recent TLC show
on this made jest of the fact that we do a great job of keeping stupid
stuff secret while people like Aldrich Ames gives all the real top
secret stuff away for years. They mentioned the Roswell incident
as evidence (a crash that happened in the 40's that was covered up
by the military and is still classified). Several congressmen have
tried to get info on Roswell even recently and have been denied.
Given the recent embarassing revelation that the Govt radiated
people in experiments, it is perhaps still likely there is more they'd
just as soon have us remain ignorant of. None of this is any
evidence for extra terrestrial visitation of course.
|> Is <dzurik@elf.stuba.sk> even a member of this list?
No. I just checked. Like I said, probably just spamming it.
