California is at least a 4-party state. If you go through the W3 page
for the California elections, you'll see the initials AI and PF. No,
it's not the Artificial Intelligence party. These are American Independent
and Peace and Freedom. I remember these were on the ballot when I voted in
CA in '80. I think these were 60's parties that got permanent status in
CA and have been able to run ever since. They've never been big bote
getters in the years I've voted ('80+) so I think that once you get
permanent status in CA, it is pretty easy to keep it. This would be
great for the LP if they got it this time (they won >4% for some
statewide elections, but I don't know if that's high enough in CA).
