One of the interesting developments in contemporary agriculture
-- certainly local (New England) agriculture -- is the relative
prosperity of the new bustling 'craft farming' niche (exotic
greens, nontraditional methods of cultivation, onsite food
processing) (also called 'specialty agriculture' and 'niche
agriculture') and the traditional commodity agriculture that
is trapped, like you say, in the USDA's price support jail.
The first group talk like live people; the second look and
sound like the 'before' section of an ad for Prozac.
