I think the Libertarian Party should issue a press release about
FDR. It should be something similar to the following:

> FDR'S GREATEST MONUMENT IS GARGANTUAN FEDERALISM
> In part from the Beacon Journal (Akron) (AK) - 20Oct94
>
> A monument to Franklin Delano Roosevelt is being constructed in
> Washington, D.C., almost five decades after his death in 1945.
>
> Appropriately, a large sum will be wasted: $52 million.
>
> But FDR already has a monument amidst us all: The mammoth,
> wasteful government he imposed.
>
     ...
[stuff about historian Kenneth S. Davis deleted]
     ...
>
> Before FDR, the central government wasted only 5 percent of the
> national economy. Today, it wastes 26 percent.
>
> Before FDR, the government usually balanced its budget. Since him,
> it rarely has.
>
> The federal debt approaches $5 trillion -- that's
> $5,000,000,000,000.
>
> Inflation has risen an incredible 1,000 percent (tenfold) since he
> turned the printing presses on full speed.
>
> Before FDR, the U.S.'s entire central regime wasted $3 billion a
> year.
>
> Now, most single "programs" amount to that or much more, and the
> federal budget stands at $1.5 trillion a year and rising -- a
> staggering 50,000 percent increase.
>
> He packed the Supreme Court with justices who shredded the Bill of
> Rights, especially the 9th and 10th Amendment checks on central
> government power. He imposed Social Security, which now is
> approaching bankruptcy.
>
> In turn, SS led to the Great Society programs of the 1960s,
> Medicare, Medicaid (both headed toward bankruptcy), and the "war on
> poverty" which has impoverished taxpayers by wasting $3 trillion
> without reducing the poverty rate.
>
> When big government was ousted in Moscow in 1991, statues to Lenin
> were toppled across the land.
>
> Instead of a marble memorial to FDR being built, his existing
> memorial -- big government -- should be toppled and smashed.
