Saw this on libernet today. Many of the LP candidates running for the
NH state legislature have nominations from both the LP and one of the
other parties. Many are "L and D" dual nominations. Thought it was
a bit relevant to whether the LP can get support from both D's and R's.

There are 4 current L's in the state legislature of NH. That body is,
however, quite large -- I think 400 seats total (and NH is not that big
of a state). Nevertheless, the NH LP seems to be by far the strongest
and most credible of the 50 state affilates. Every candidate that wins
is one more we can add to the "facts not words" file for convincing
potential supporters.

                        NH PRIMARY

At long last, the results of the NH primary. (It was held back on september
13th). We're incredibly excited and looking forward to the election for
once.

As most of you know, steve Winter (sorry, my computer seems to want to ignore
capital "s"s.) won the Gubernatorial primary. Although he's doing a great
job, he's getting the cold shoulder from our largest network affiliated TV
station (ABC)- WMUR out of Manchester, NH. On election night, they confidently
predicted that the Libertarians would lose ballot status because they "haven't
participated in any debate on the issues in a meaningful way." Takes a lot
of guts for the station that covered the retirement of the Manchester police
chief rather than the steve Winter unveiling his educational choice plan.

At any rate, we're used to being ignored by them. We're not the least bit
worried about losing ballot status, although we do want to have an impressive
increase in the Libertarian vote totals. THAT WILL take money. (Doesn't
everything?) steve Winter's campaign address is:

                        steve Winter for Governor
                        PO Box 859
                        New London, NH 03259

The rest of the news is LOTs better. The reason we need money to increase
our gubernatorial vote totals is that we have an excellent shot at DOUBLING
our current number of four legislators in the NH House! We picked up 11
(count-'em) double nominations and Don Gorman, our House Libertarian leader
got the triple crown - all three party nominations! We have a guaranteed
seat!

Here's the run-down of double nominees, and others with a good shot at
winning their seats, along with their addresses, and campaign spending limits
which amounts to $.50 per registered voter in each district), in case anyone

Won a re-count to pick up the GOP nomination.

Other good bets for NH house seats that only have the Libertarian Nominations:

$6598 Finlay Rothhaus (House, Hillsborough # 18)
        28 McGaw Bridge Road
        Merrimack , NH 03054
        (603) 424-8011

Incumbent 2 term state rep. May benefit from "banishment" of GOP
Merrimack Rep who has embraced the state income tax, leaving the
other 7 Republicans to prefer Finlay. He's pretty popular, and it's
proportional voting in his district, so he only has to get 20% or so
of the vote to win the seat.

$2885 Andy Borsa (House, Hillsborough #24)
        6 Colby Lane
        Pelham, NH 03076

Incumbent state rep. He didn't pick up the double nomination this
time, so he needs money to win. Please send him some!

$4072 Bob Kingsbury (House, Belknap #7)
        PO Box 1088
        Laconia, NH 03247
        (603) 528-5541

President of Laconia Taxpayers Assn. Former mayoral candidate.

$4072 George Tyler (House, Belknap #7)
        684 shore Drive
        Laconia, NH 03246-2933
        (603) 527-1421

        Member, Laconia Airport Authority

$4072 Harry Accornero (House, Belknap #7)
        18 sanborn treet
        Laconia, NH 03246
        (603) 524-4064

Former GOP state rep from Laconia, a director of Laconia Taxpayer's
        Assn.

$4072 David Gammon (County Commission, Belknap #1)
        33 Rowell treet
        Laconia, NH 03246

Current City Councilor. ame district as Laconia House district..

$935 Reed Leiter (House, Grafton #9)
        PO Box 157
        Wentworth, NH 03282

Commercial campground owner, already has lawn signs all over his
        district!

Last, but never least, John Lewicke won the Congressional primary over
Ken Blevins. MORE important, a Liberal Republican won the nomination, and
everyone and their brother here can't stand the incumbent Democrat Congressman,
Dick swett. The most popular bumper sticker in the state right now is:
"swett Lies" - a reference to his pledge to vote against the assault weapons
ban right up to when he stepped out of his office to head for the capital and
vote FOR IT!

John needs money to get some of the Conservative, NRA votes in this
election. He doesn't expect to win, but we certainly hope to give the
liberal Republican reason to behave down in Washington if HE wins. I've
already seen signs up for him, which is far better than he was able to do in
the last election. More money means a better campaign. John's address is:

        John Lewicke
        928 starch Mill Rd.
        Mason, NH

        (603) 878-2610

They think they're hot stuff in Mason because they just got their
own zip code. It's not in the NH phone book yet. (Yes, they publish zip
codes in the NH phone books - 90% of the towns have only one.) Ask the
post office for the correct zip if you decide to mail him money....

Once again, I'm sorry about the Capital "s's". It certainly drove me nuts.
I can't afford to send the computer in for repairs until after the election.
