Start reading alt.politics.org.batf. This group should really be
renamed alt.revolution.american.2nd. It contains a lot of horror
stories about curtailment of Constitutional rights, police/military
abuses, etc. It also contains a lot of political ideas on changing the
direction that things are moving in, and preparing for the worst case
(stockpiling ammo, food, etc.).

If you are convinced by these argument, you might be interested in
reading misc.survivalism or joing the survive-list mailing list.

Superpowers invade countries incapable of resisting them when they
decide that it is in their best interest. Any justifications for
invasions are just that: justifications. The USSR, Germany, the UN,
etc. will never invade the US unless (1) it is trivial to do so, (2)
it is in the agressor's best interest to do so. I do not see that the
current trends in the US (infringment of individual rights) will
result in either of these becoming true in the near future.

Consider: as socialist as the US currently is, it is still a more
freedom-loving country than any other large country. Can you actually
see China invading the US because the government kills too many
citizens, or goesn't give them enough economic rights?

I thought not.
