current configuration stuff puts the pathnames for the generator
programs (ss/et) & libraries into an Imake config file; this could be
cleaned up to make it more modular.
However, the include files present an interesting problem; perhaps
requiring additional -I flags?
(check out the UseInstalled flag in the Imake stuff; perhaps this should
be split into separate tests for each subset)
