nmake.exe is located in the bin directory in the Microsoft C++
installation. The instructions are geared to developers who have
Microsoft Visual C++ installed. While it is rumored that developers
have been able to make the Kerberos tree work with Borland C++, I do not
know the steps. It may be the case that the only Borland C++ work was
to integrate the Kerberos libraries built under MSVC++ with existing
Borland C++ applications. However, the Alpha 1 snapshot had problems
even with this. Code changes are required to be able to build Borland
C++ applications with Kerberos include files and libraries.

The Alpha 2 release, which is currently being planned, still requires
Microsoft Visual C++ and continues to use nmake. There has been some
internal discussion about supplying executables with the release to ease
the burden for those who do not have the Microsoft development
environment installed. However, to my knowledge, there has been no
detailed discussions about the actual packaging of the Alpha 2 snapshot,
and its release date has not yet been decided.
