Yes, src/appl/new-telnet is the latest stuff, which I never got around to
integrating (it needs things like fixing conceptual problems, spelling, using
bld_princ.c, void *, probably ANSI C stuff yet again, etc).
There are some conceptual problems with that stuff, primarily in how it deals
with selecting sub-session keys. I looked over the challenge stuff briefly;
that still looks bogus (it should use the AP_REP as we do in the
currently-compilable code).
I thought the Authentication draft document was recent. I've repeatedly sent
mail on various topics to <prb@cray.com> and <dab@cray.com> (Paul and Dave
Borman, respectively), and usually that mail goes into a black hole.
