Compatibility problem: DCE vs. MIT Kerberos V5

This is a request for information from the MIT Kerberos folks,

The project I am working on makes use of a DCE Security Server
as a standalone (non-DCE) krb5 KDC. Unfortunately, when I
built Kerberos V5 Beta 4 I found that the "kinit" utility which
was built with an OSF-derived Kerberos library would not
interoperate with the beta 4 KDC.

I remember reading several months ago that the fix for this
incompatibility (ASN.1 BER encoding problem with the DCE code)
was not brought into the beta 4 release when the ISODE encoder
was replaced with hand written encoding routines.

If this is the case, I need to know where I can get a patch
to make the Kerberos V5B4 library compatible with DCE, if
such a patch exists. I also need to know if plans still
exist to keep the MIT/DCE compatibility fix in sync between
the two versions of the Kerberos code. This is important to
me because it could have a big impact on current plans with
Kerberos at SCO.

Any pointers or information you can give me will be much
appreciated.

Thank you.

P.S. The port of beta4 went very smoothly. Only some minor
header file problems like the lack of a MAXPATHLEN definition
in our headers.
