That's a really standard-sounding problem... kinit probably can't find
krb.conf (since it isn't where you compiled it to be) and so it can't
send a request because it can't guess a name for the KDC...

You can change the location of the config file in one of the header
files. Or, you can look at the CNS/V4 free net release, which helps
with this problem in two ways:
	1) better guessing at a possibly valid kdc name
	2) KRB_CONF environment variable to specify where to find a
valid krb.conf.

(There are lots of other improvements over the abandoned MIT V4p10
release, these are just the ones that might help you directly...)
