I've installed Kerberos Version 4 in a non-standard hierarchy I'll call
$KERB using the instructions in the Kerberos Installation Notes. I've
done the following according to the instructions in the Kerberos
Operation Notes:
kdb_init
kdb_edit
start kerberos (server is running and listening on UDP/88)
When I try and run kinit, I get the following:
[32] narnia.cs.purdue.edu: $KERB/usr/athena/bin/kinit
Purdue COAST Project (narnia.cs.purdue.edu)
Kerberos Initialization
Kerberos name: swlodin
kinit: Can't send request (send_to_kdc)
The same problem occurs if I try kinit on the Kerberos server also or as
root.
I've looked in the Kerberos FAQ, but no answer there. I went to the MIT
Web database of comp.protocols.kerberos and there were a couple of
questions related to kinit, but they were for Version 5.
I'd really appreciate any suggestions or hints on how to make this work!
Steve
