any luck with encrpyted telnet and krb5 B5?

I'm trying to get a solution for running ecrypted sessions
and would like to be able to use telnet if possible.
I've dug into the code a little bit and have built telnet
with proper defines to enable des encryption, but whenever
I try to connect with a telnetd compiled with these options
it segfaults (fun).
I've pulled down the non export version of telnet dated 950531
from net-dist.mit.edu, but It won't compile at all due to
differences in some of the krb5 routines is kerberos5.c and
forward.c
Also, I'm running this on freebsd 2.0.5. I did get rlogin
working with excrpytion, but it fails to set the terminal
type automatically among other things. I would really
like to be able to use telnet though...
