I installed kerberos a while back on one of our i486 machines running
BSD/OS 2.0.
Since then I have wiped out the file system to redo things. Now when I
re-installed kerberos that came with BSD I have run in to a problem!

The INSTALL notes include this line...

Create a /.update.keyXX.XX.XX.XX file (where XX.XX.XX.XX is the ip
address of the server machine) on each machine that should be able to
run the register(1) program. The contents are a single line with a
  string that is the passwd.

I remember that it was not just a case of creating a file called
'/.update.keyXX.XX.XX.XX' and putting in a plain test password. I think
I had to use DES to encrypt things but I have forgotten what I did exactly.

Can anyone help?

later.
