Not really a problem as it's built into a dbm file.

Un-noticeable. The first process terminates very quickly as it has but a
single address to resolve. It solves two important problems 1) bounces
going back to the message sender, 2) SMTP timeouts. RFC-1211 really should
have addressed these points better but is still good reading.
