i may be barking up the wrong tree here, but... most unix systems these
days suuport shared libraries and the libdl that should go with it. so
given that why dont you ship the binaries minus libdes.so. that way if the
system the binaries are on has libdes it will use it otherwise it will
silently ignore it and run without it.. is this to diffcult/am i missing
something here? the des auth scheme can be linked in statically so that
it will still have authetification even if it doesnt have encryption. this
way it is up to the site admin to get himself a copy from where ever it is
legal for him to get copies from. personally i see this as a good thing (of
course i would :) ). but like i said before there may be something i am
completely missing here.
