Thanks Ted! You pointed me in the right direction. As it turns out, I had just changed the hostname on this workstation. It had a srvtab file, but the rcmd.{hostname} entry was for the wrong host. Live and learn...
Also appreciate the explanation of how ksu works. Thanks again,
