Hi everyone:
On Monday 12/20/99 I made the following software changes as discussed in
the meeting on Thursday 12/16/99.
Updates to existing macsoft/pcsoft pages:
macsoft:
Removed: Ksign, NCSA Telnet, Norton, Technotify, White Knight
Added: BetterTelnet
Edits: Kerberos for Mac now 2.5.1, KClient 1.9 (link now points to
http://web.mit.edu/is/help/kclient/ ), Kerberos Manager 1.0.3
Notes: Photoshop and Dreamweaver info is currently on the non-supported
products page (through Y2K) (
http://web.mit.edu/is/desktop/non-support.html )
pcsoft:
Removed: Ksign, Framemaker, LAN WorkPlace, Norton for Windows, TechNotify
Notes: Photoshop and Dreamweaver info is currently on the non-supported
products page (through Y2K) (
http://web.mit.edu/is/desktop/non-support.html )
Question: MinK is currently listed as a sub-product under Kerberos on the
Windows page. Let me know if you would like this handled differently.
Updates to Mac and Windows databases:
Mac database:
Removed all old versions discussed in last Thursday's meeting
Removed: Ksign, Open Transport
Kept: SAPweb pending further discussion, is there a version #?
Folded KClient and Kerberso Manager into (renamed) Kerberos for Macintosh
(MIT) category
Edited: Brio, Roles to show BLT support
Brio 5.0 marked as "Being Phased Out". Would you rather I remove it completely?
SQL*Net to show Database Services Team support
Windows database:
Removed all old versions discussed in last Thursday's meeting
Removed: Ksign, DOS
Kept: SAPweb pending further discussion, is there a version #?
Edited: Brio, Roles to show BLT support
Brio 5.0 marked as "Being Phased Out". Would you rather I remove it completely?
SQL*Net to show Database Services Team support
ProComm Plus to show ODSUE/IT Partners support
Question: Is MinK version correct?
All Y2K information remains intact on both pages and will be accessible
throughout January, 2000 and beyond if needed.
The beginning paragraph on both the Mac and Windows list pages has been
changed from "the IS Computing Help Desk" to simply "IS" so that we may
incorporate other support resources in the
individual summaries.
I realize there are several outstanding issues that need to be discussed,
but I hope that everything I was responsible for in the short term has been
addressed. Kevin is working on creating a list of additional support
providers, including CWIS, BLT, ODSUE, IT Partners and Database Services.
If there are other groups you would like to see appear on the list, please
email Kevin.
Feel free to contact me any time before Thursday afternoon with further
additions, deletions, corrections to either set of pages. After that, I'll
be on vacation until Tuesday 1/4/2000.
Thank you for all the useful information you provided last week. I really
appreciate all the effort and thought that continues to go into these pages.
Kris
