complaint about tether upgrade

I'm not sure who to bitch to about this, but the *unannounced* upgrade
of tether to V.90 on Friday has made a previously recommended modem -
the Motorola Power 28.8 no longer work. If we had been informed prior to
the upgrade, a new modem could have been purchased beforehand. As it is,
this has caused a significant interruption in service.
The help desk suggested 'go to the Motorola site and download the
firmware to upgrade'. After 30 minutes of searching the Motorola site,
there is absolutely no mention of any upgrades or firmware available and
the Power 28.8 is a 'discontinued' product.
MIT should ensure that an upgrade that affects a recently recommmended
product (this calendar year) is announced with a fix provided through
the MIT site.
This is a very unacceptable situation.
