-2) consider adding an additional option in the "Practice" field. For
-instance, if you look at the Search Engine discovery project
-http://arachne.mit.edu/fcgi-bin/brlfcgi/brlpdb/projmod.html?projid=1026
-the practice field includes the choices of "academic, office,
-v/d/i/networking, and none." I suggest you add an option
-representing "commons" or "all." The search engine for MIT web pages,
-for example, is multi-practice.
The Practice Field is intended to reflect the Business Practices of
IS. At present, the only Business Practices that I know of are
Academic, Office, and V/D/I/Networking.
The "none" option was added to provide a way to reflect the "informal"
projects which may not have a Business Practice sponsor.
I don't see this as an option, really. The structure of the
organization at present does not have a "commons" Business Practice.
Thank you for the suggestion, but I think we need to use the accepted
three practices. Part of the discipline this forces us into is that
of selecting one of the Business Practices as the sponsor for the
project.
