Howdy all,
[sorry if you're seeing this more than once...]
To introduce improvements to our database/web services, I need to upgrade our key FileMaker databases (course registration, product support sheet, IS pubs, IS staff, etc.) to FileMaker version 5 soon. My plan is to convert the databases on Saturday, June 17th, so everyone who needs to access the databases via FileMaker will have to have FileMaker 5 installed on your machine as of Monday the 19th. (If you just use the web to access the db data, you can ignore this message.)
Installing FileMaker 5 doesn't require you to delete FileMaker 4 or convert other databases to version 5, so you can continue to use version 4 on your other databases -- but you must have FMPro 5 to access the databases I serve. Fortunately, I'm not changing the look and feel of the databases yet, so you can work with them as before (i.e., you won't have to relearn FileMaker all over to use the converted databases). There are minor menu changes in FMpro 5 you should know about, but they are no big deal.
I will be happy to help you install FileMaker 5 (and the latest bug-fix updater) over the next few weeks, and I can help you be ready to access the databases easily once they're converted. Just let me know if you need my help.
Again, I hope to convert the databases to FileMaker version 5 on Saturday, June 17. Does this present a problem for you? If so, please contact me immediately and let me know.
Thanks,
--Kevin
