Dear networker,
Your subscription to list IPCT-L (Interpersonal Computing and Technology) has
been accepted.
This is a forum for the discussion of computing and other technology that
can be used to promote learning. Topics for discussion will involve teaching
and training; collaboration; partnerships among learners, faculty or
teachers, and other interested persons in the educational community; and
research that reflect these interests.
A special effort will be made to promote IPCT-L as an international forum
for issues important in higher education, and the pedagogical issues
involved with connectivity and networking.
The decade of the 1980s was characterized by the _personal_ computer, and
development of individual productivity. The focus of the IPCT-L, as we move
toward the 21st century, is that _interpersonal_ computing and technology
will tie persons together throughout the world -- to share ideas and solve
problems.
Besides acting as a forum for the topics of interest noted above, another
interest of the CTT is to publish a scholarly, refereed international
journal. To that end, the IPCT-L will develop a subscription list and act as
a resource to develop the community necessary to review articles and
recommend editorial policies as these publishing goals move forward.
The Interpersonal Computing and Technology List (IPCT-L) was created by
the Center for Teaching and Technology (CTT) at the Academic Computer
Center, Georgetown University.
You may leave the list at any time by sending a "SIGNOFF IPCT-L" command to
LISTSERV@GUVM. Please note that this command must NOT be sent to the list
address (IPCT-L@GUVM) but to the LISTSERV address (LISTSERV@GUVM).
The amount of acknowledgement you wish to receive from this list upon
completion of a mailing operation can be changed by means of a "SET IPCT-L
option" command, where "option" may be either "ACK" (mail acknowledgement),
"MSGACK" (interactive messages only) or "NOACK".
Contributions sent to this list are automatically archived. You can obtain a
list of the available archive files by sending an "INDEX IPCT-L" command to
LISTSERV@GUVM. These files can then be retrieved by means of a "GET IPCT-L
filetype" command, or using the database search facilities of LISTSERV. Send an
"INFO DATABASE" command for more information on the latter.
Please note that it is presently possible for anybody to determine that you
are signed up to the list through the use of the "REVIEW" command, which
returns the network address and name of all the subscribers. If you do not wish
your name to be available to others in this fashion, just issue a "SET IPCT-L
CONCEAL" command.
More information on LISTSERV commands can be found in the "General
Introduction guide", which you can retrieve by sending an "INFO GENINTRO"
command to LISTSERV@GUVM.
Virtually,
The LISTSERV management
