        A. Good Things Done Lately (aka Accomplishments)
        B. Goals for 10/15/93
        C. Issues and
        D. Long-term Goals.

1. A New Network OPAC

*** rollout new tty interface to Barton 8/23, eliminating VT100 interface
*** take alpha snapshot of Willow version 2 from U. W.
*** finish coding of BIB routines to display full record

        A. Completed new tty interface rollout.
Took ** BETA ** snapshot of Willow V2
Made significant progress on BIB routines, but some work remains.
        B. Take delivery of new version of Newton that supports SCAN.
Take delivery of new version of Finkbeiner Z39.50 that supports SCAN.
Complete coding of BIB routines on Maxine.
Begin porting of BIB routines to other platforms.
Begin integration of all of the above pieces to make a new client.
        C. None.
        D. None.

2. Library Services from Athena

       *** None

        A. NUT group nears official formation.
        B. Establish clear mission and scope for NUT, and begin work.
        C. None.
        D. None.

3. TULIP

*** Mount complete set of TULIP TOC data in Newton from CD received
              to date.
*** Resolve (or advance) the FTP policy from Elsevier
*** Determine priority for TULIP project
*** Followup on Mitchell's recent suggestion to dlicc

        A. Mounted all TULIP TOC data that we could find. There are CDs
in the series that we have either not received, or lost.
Sent FTP policy proposal to Elsevier, who have it under advisement.
No progress on priority/funding/management of TULIP project.
        B. Reconsider Mitchell's proposal for a prototype effort.
        C. No new ones beyond above.
        D. None.

4. Slash 8000

*** This is an ongoing effort, and will probably only increase.

        A. NOTIS the finalist, discussions on contract and beta test partnership
                pending.
Data migration tool for use on GEAC data in-place completed & tested.
        B. NOTIS visits MIT 9/15.
Begin use of Data migration tool on GEAC data in preparation for
                move to NOTIS(?).
        C. None.
        D. None.

5. Medline

*** develop and articulate a strategy for support transition from
*** current local db model to the firstsearch model

        A. Meeting to examine current support model occurred.
Determined BRS/Search has been licensed thru 8/94, so there's no
                big rush on the software.
Have not determined if MEDLINE fee has been paid for 93-94,
                and if so, by whom.
We continue to get tapes from Maxwell, and to mount them.
Speedy move to FirstSearch for Medline hung up on issues around
getting FirstSearch up and running at OCLC and here, the latter
being the issue of so-called "password hiding".
        B. Continue discussion on "password hiding" at next elibdev.
Continue to refine new support model for MEDLINE users on campus.
        C. None.
        D. None.

6. FirstSearch

*** develop a plan for using tfirst for access to MEDLINE via FirstSeach

        A. No progress.
        B. Same as last month.
        C. None.
        D. None.

Other comments:

Tom would like to have some forum where we could discuss technical
options in more detail, debate merits, etc., and make decisions. The
lack of a more formal structure for elib development projects was
identified. As a first step towards solving this, the October meeting
of this kind will be 2 hours to allow time for status reporting, goal
setting, as well as technical discussion.

Bill has been keeping a task list going on several of his projects. It
        is included verbatim below.
