WELCOME! YOU ARE INVITED TO CREATE THE NETWORK OF ETEXT PRODUCERS

There are probably hundreds of individuals and operations working
today on the creation and distribution of electronic texts. They
each undoubtedly are pioneers in their areas and as such, run the
risks all pioneers face.

Therefore a group of us have decided to loosely band together for
mutual benefit. This group includes profit, not-for profit, even
some which haven't really defined themselves as of yet into these
or other categories.

The purposes of the network are those one would expect:

1. To promote efficiency and to reduce duplication of effort

2. To provide legal assistance on copyright

3. To plan for the future

Efficiency is such a broad topic that it needs to be broken down,
probably into several subjects each with sub-headings of hardware
and software, scanning and proofreading, search and retrieval and
finally distribution.

If you are interested in pursuing any or all of these topics, put
a note in the email to this address or snail mail to:

Michael S. Hart
405 West Elm St.
Urbana, IL 61801

This network would, by definition, be independent.

I hope to be thanking you soon for your time and consideration,

                                        Michael S. Hart
