Subject: electronic newsletter from LC
----------------------------Original message----------------------------
The Library of Congress Cataloging Directorate will be issuing an
electronic newsletter, LC Cataloging Newsline, through an
Internet Listserv list. The newsletter will be compiled at least
quarterly and will contain information about cataloging
activities at LC of interest to the library community. We will
announce availability of the newsletter when the installation of
the Listserv software is completed. In the meantime, we posted
our first issue to AUTOCAT@uvmvm.bitnet on January 15, 1993. It
is also available to Internet users through anonymous FTP using
the following commands:
1. At your system prompt, enter: ftp seq1.loc.gov
or, ftp 140.147.3.12
2. At the name prompt, enter: anonymous
3. At the password prompt, enter your Internet address
4. At the ftp> prompt, enter: cd pub/coop.cataloging/docs
5. Request file by entering: get lccn.news
6. After transfer, enter: quit
NOTE: in the ftp address "seq1.loc.gov", "seq" is followed by the
digit "1", not the letter "l".
For information about the LC Cataloging Newsline, contact Robert
M. Hiatt, Cataloging Policy and Support Office, Library of
Congress, 202-707-4380.
For information about transferring the file, contact Sherry
Kelley, skel@seq1.loc.gov or 202-707-6754
