The problem here isn't *where* Eudora was installed. The problem is that
you have multiple copies of the same version of Eudora on your system.

When you open a file, and there are multiple versions of the application
that created that file, the Mac OS will open the copy of the application
with the latest version. However, if there are several copies of the same
version of an application, it randomly chooses which one of them it's going
to open.

If a user has Eudora 2 and then installs Eudora 3 on their hard drive,
Eudora 3 will always be the preferred choice. However, if you have
multiple versions of Eudora 3 (and versions 3.0 and 3.0.2 may count as "the
same"), you don't know which one is going to open. Even if there's a copy
of the application in the same folder as the document you're opening, that
might not be the one that gets opened.

I have about 5 copies of the Eudora app on my drive (because I'm making the
installers), so I have to always drag my settings file to an alias of the
"right" copy of the app to be safe.

So, there is no place we could install (or tell users to install) the new
copy of Eudora that could be guaranteed that it would launch the "correct"
Eudora application from a settings file, if they already have a copy of
Eudora 3 on the their system.

Have 'em search for copies of the Eudora apps and get rid of the extras.
