Oh, it gets better.
FYI, the exact text of the error message I mentioned before is:
"A folder named "Eudora Folder" on "Eggroll2" has the same naem as a folder
that needs to be installed. Click cancel to stop the installation or click
delte to replace that file."
OK, does it mean "folder" or "file"? The message uses those two
interchangeably, they are very different things on the Mac.
New problem.
I let the installation finish by clicking on delete. My machine rebooted.
I went to my alias in my Apple Menu Items, which is an alias to my settings
file, because I do have Eudora set up for multiple users on my machine.
It told me that the application Eudora Pro could not be opened because it
was in the trash. I went to the trash, and found:
Eggroll2 -> Trash -> Rescued items from Eggroll2 -> Eudora Pro
(application program) I did "Get Info" on it, and discovered it to be
version 3.0.2.
I did a find file on Eudora Pro and found 5 copies of the application program.
The one I just listed,
Eggroll2 -> Eudora for MITv 0.9 folder -> Eudora Folder Old -> Eudora Pro
-> Eudora Pro (v 3.0.2)
Eggroll2 -> Eudora for MITv 0.9 folder -> Eudora Pro (v 2.1.4)
Eggroll -> Network Apps -> Eudora Pro 3.0 Folder -> Eudora Pro 3.0 (v 3.0)
(and one on a wonton backup)
Then I tried to use my alias in my Apple Menu Items again, and this time
it openned Eudora, it opened version 3.0.
(In the past it always opened a 2.1.4 version of Eudora)
Should there be some information in the README of the installer about
*where* to install Eudora to if you already have Eudora on your computer?
Any ideas? I'm sure I can get this straightened out myself, but if this
happenned to a client, it would not be fun to deal with.
thanks,
alicia
