I talked to Anita and she says she used the Web to download the installer.
The error as described is usually caused by someone ftp'ing the file in
ascii mode.  Don't know if someone did that moving the file up to the
server recently, but it may be worth checking.

in fact I checked the installer site myself and ended up with a 536K file
that won't run in Win98.  So I'd say it's damaged.
