Subject: NCSA Telnet Installer over Tether

I' not sure to whom to address this so I am addressing this to the Help
Desk and Marshall. I am trying to install ncsa telnet. I downloaded it
from the server, but whn I try to install it I have a problem. It shuts
down other application, including Tether, and it seems to need the network
connection to install. What am I doing wrong?

Susan

Let me add something to this. Trying to install NCSA Telnet may have
succeeded in installing at least a part of it, my guess k-client, but who
knows, maybe not. Anyway, now I can't logon to Eudora, because my
"username isn't valid". I tried downloading Eudora Pro, but guess what,
when I tried to install it, the installer shut everything down and then the
installer froze up.

Are you folks sure that I can use these new installers over Tether? What
the heck am I doing wrong.

Well, thank God I don't have to logon to send email and thank GOD I have
techmail-s.

This is getting to be a pain.

By the way, I know it isn't Tether, because I'm in Tether now and I can run
Netscape.

What the heck is going on.

Susan

Hardware: Macintosh

Software: Eudora 3.02

Operating Sytem: MacOS
Version: 7.5.5

She has a Quadra 700, running 7.5.5, she has whatever version of OT that
that installed, and a Hayes external modem.

She has also had this problem with a Powerbook 520,

PowerBook info:

OS: 7.5.3 Up 2
OT 1.1.2
PPP
Modem: Global Village PowerPort Mercury

Installer info:

NCSA Telnet 2.7b4 Installer: 4.6.1
MIT Eudora 3.02 Installer: 4.6.1

Client came in this morning to walkins complaining about above problem.
Looked at PowerBook and tried installing Eudora and NCSA telnet using ftp
installers. Both stopped with and error -43 when trying to download the
file "Kerberos Client Preferences". Iggy wants Marshal to look at this
problem, since she has experienced this problem previously with her own
computer. So emailing Marshal and installers regarding this problem.

We currently have her computer in the walkins area.

Client also has problem with an external CD-ROM drive, her computer Quadra
700 won't recognize it. Hooked drive up and experienced same problem.
SCSI probe sees it on the chain but refuses to mount it. Can't boot from
drive off of MacOS CD either. Couldn't do anything more because computers
in walkins area are having trouble connection to the key server, so I can't
use any diagnostic software.

Drive is also in walkins.
