RS/6000's do not have /dev/floppy; their floppy drive is accessed via
/dev/fd0 (or /dev/rfd0 for the raw device). The "/dev/floppy" that exists
on the machine in the office is just an ordinary file, not a device; I would
guess someone tried to write to the floppy as root using "/dev/floppy", and
ended up creating the plain text file instead. There is no problem with the
machine m11-113-5, but instead with the junk file on the rs/6000 in the
office.
