There has been some concern over the message that you get when you
signon to this mailing list. It looks like someone wrote it, but it
is automatically generated by LISTSERV using the flags set when the
list was created. In particular, the "confidential" flag was set and
it generated the paragraph about keeping the list a secret. The flag
was set only so that it would not show up in master lists while it was
being tested. HD-ALERT is not a secret IS cult! We have reset the
switch and future notifications will not include that paragraph.
Sorry for the confusion.
Also, I would like to make it clear that this list is in no way
replacing the Physical Plant notification list. Physical Plant will
still notify the regular people when there are problems. It is hoped
that those people will use this list to make sure that those who are
on the front line with our users will know what is going on.
Feed back on what should and should not go out on this list will be
appreciated.
