Here's where we stand with menelaus:
- we've tested a disk drive for it (currently installed
on heracles)
- I think Rita asked DEC to come in on Mon Dec 9 (to move
the disk to menelaus, perform an upgrade on the
disk controller, and verify that the new disk and
the controller work)
- I haven't heard definitely from Lucien when he wants to
do the work of moving discuss groups to the new
disk; I assume he wants to wait until after the
new disk is installed, tested, etc.
- I heard that Jeff doesn't want menelaus down in the middle
of the day (verify that with Jeff...I can't find a
mail message about it)
- downtime for this machine should probably be announced
at least 3 work days in advance
What needs to be done:
- decide whether DEC should come in on Monday, and either
* announce it via motd, email, etc.
or
* cancel DEC field service call scheduled for Mon
- decide when is a good time to bring the machine down the
add disk, get controller upgrade, etc., schedule
and announce it
