Hi,
Thanks for all the registration info and the hesinfo update. Lou came by to
get the machines up and running yesterday. I received 2 additional
SunBlades from Brian Murphy yesterday. I am copying below a confirmation of
my IP address request for these 2 machines.
lids-ath-11.mit.edu (18.78.2.166) and lids-ath-12.mit.edu (18.78.2.167). I
am also ccing hesreq,
hotline, register_Ws.
I didn't see the hardware maintenance fees for the SunBlades on the website
link you sent me.
Who is handling the annual contracts on athena workstations? (Juan Vargas?
Marion Bagley?)
If you remember I asked about srvtab in my earlier email. Two things happen
here quite frequently. Students log in remotely to work on athena machines
(we do not have enough student office space) as well as students living on
campus (with permission from their advisors) take their machines home - we
haven't tried to stop this from happening, especially through the worst
weeks in summer, as we do not have air-conditioning in the student areas,
and the offices can be quite unbearable during the summer.
The last time a student requested srvtab he was sent an email saying that
since I owned
the IP addresses I should also request the srvtab. This is why I was trying
to request srvtab in advance. Thanks for all the request info.
Jyoti
