Hello,

I mistakenly had auto update set to false on my private Athena
workstation (gadus.mit.edu). I set it to true last evening and the
update from (I believe 8.4.8) started and apparently failed. The
machine is at the "ok" prompt. Here is the sequence of errors
at boot time (the Sun decal is still visible):

WARNING: /pci@1f,0/pci@1,1/ide@3/dad@0,0 (dad0):
corrupt label - wrong magic number

obpsym: symbolic dumping is available.
panic[cpu0]/thread=10404000: mod_hold_stub: Couldn't load stub module
misc/strpl
umb
Type 'go' to resume
ok

I left the machine as is. Do you have advice?

Daniel
