Hi, could someone please come and take a look at the SunBlade in the n42
basement test cluster? It was giving a "data-over err" first thing at
boot, and Garry says that's most likely due to hardware failure; right
now it's stuck with this:
panic[cpu0]/thread=2a10007dd40: could not reset the IDE core of
SouthBridge
panic: entering debugger (continue to reboot)
ok>
Thanks,
Abby

Just wanted to check whether you want more info, or if I should call
hotline on the suspicion that this is hardware?
1st problem we noticed seemed to be a failure to start X after
reactivate; had to pull the power plug, and at boot noticed this twice
just before the solaris logo/copyright came up:
data-over err
It then seemed ok for several days, until Alex said:
From: Alex T Prengel <alexp>
The Blade is hung again- I found it with a line of random garbage
characters superimposed on the login screen... I tried a reboot and
now it's endlessly repeating "Timeout waiting for ARP/RARP packet"
Again, it didn't respond to the front button (or keyboard; stop-a didn't
work and numlock light didn't come on), so pulled the plug and saw the
data-over messages again on boot, it got at least as far as Hostname and
then panicked, with the last lines:
%14-7 [hex...] dad:dcd_handle_incomplete+d4
... dad:dcdintr+214
... uata:ghd_doneeq_process+60
panic: entering debugger (continue to save dump)
ok> go
syncing file systems... [1 several times] cannot sync -- giving up
dumping to /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s1, offset ...
panic[cpu0]/thread=2a10007dd40: could not reset the IDE core of
SouthBridge
panic: entering debugger (continue to reboot)
ok>
