NSTAR has restored power to buildings N42, N57, NW61 and NW62. The
outage resulted from a cable fault under Mass. Ave. Although that
cable may still require some repair, power was successfully restored
earlier this afternoon to the buildings by NSTAR.

The buildings effected are fed from NSTAR, not the MIT distribution system.
At 11:50 AM, NSTAR reports that there is a cable fault on Mass Ave. Crews
have been dispatched to the area and are searching for the fault. There is
no length of duration known at this time. I will forward any information I
receive.

Please note that at approximately 10:40 am Wednesday (6/20/01)
several buildings on the north side of campus experienced a power
outage. The buildings affected are N42, N57, NW61 and NW62.
Staff members in the Department of Facilities are currently
investigating the cause of the power outage. At this time, it is
unknown when power will be restored.
Additional details of the situation will be released as soon as they
are available.
