screen problem on Ultra10

Recently (2 months) Ultra10 was installed
kanga.mit.edu. in basement of Bldg.48.
Today a problem started with the screen.
The problem is that when you move any xterm
window, you get edges blurred and text
blurred. When you do "ls" the text is
clear but the scroll bar is still blurred
and messed up.
This behavior also occurs when you have netscape
in a window. You move it, it blurs beyond recognition.
But you do reload and it comes back.
I logged out but that didn't solve the
problem. What is happening?
