problems with delos.mit.edu

Hi, I logged in remotely as root to delos.mit.edu, and I was able to ls
/afs/athena.mit.edu but when I did the detach -a and attach -O athena-sun4sys-83
commands, I got the message: Could not open attachtab file
/var/athena/attachtab/locker/athena-sun4sys-83: Is a directory
Also, I should have mentioned that this problem with delos has been happening
for well over a month, so it might have coincided with the July 27 update. The
only problem with a software re-install is that we have important data on the
delos hard-drive: could you copy it all to a temp drive while you do the install
and then copy back?
Let me know how to proceed.
