hi folks,
since you are the ones who always deal with hardware problems, and
since i cannot think of any other list to send this to, i am directing
my request to you ... please forward it to the relevant authorities
...
after two or three months of not having used a *public* athena
cluster, i haVe now visited the student ceNter one. i am shocked at
the statE of this clusteR>
you guys rEALLY shoulD GET your EnForCEMENT WING to MAKE PEOPLE LEAVE
THEIR FooD ANd other goods outside. this place is a dump. the table i
am sitting at has one unfinished cup of coffee, two jolt bottles, and
another horizontally lying cup of coffee.
the effect on the hardware is also evident ... in case you have been
wondering at the random shifting of allcaps<-->small caps in my
message, it is the keyboard that is doing it ... w/o any provocation,
it arbitrarily shifts between small and large caps, although i am
puzzled now that it hasnt done so in this last paragraph.
i think you get the picture. find and then fine these people who bring
food and drinks into these public clusters please. i know your
official policy is to ban food and drinks from clusters, but obviously
there has not been enough tooth to this policy.
it is unbecoming of an institution such as this to have such
dismal-looking clusters with food and drinks strewn all over the
place. i don't even want to begin to describe the goo that is sitting
under the keys on the keyboard that i am typing on right now
(w20-575-19).
