Have been working with Mikki and the Polaris engineers in Polaris in regards
to formatting the 2 hard drives in the 2 CSA ultra10 systems. We are unable to
acomplish this task. These drives are not Sun formatted, and keep bouncing
back to the manufacturers label. Mikki needs at least a Sun label on these
hard drives in order to incorporate into the format program, as the other Sun
drives are. Keep in mind that the hard drives we are speaking about are
replacement drives, that are taking the place of 2 drives that have failed in
the field.
I am sending off these 2 (ST34342A) drives to Polaris, and Polaris will inspect
and test 2 other drives that they will be sending to us as the replacements.
Polaris engineers will be doing some research as well on this caper.
When we receive to drives that work, Mikki will then be able to create the
format setup for these. Should have these 2 drives by Thursday.
Also,
Have already got the word into Polaris (Bill Bruno etc..) regarding the
new platform issues, and stressing the need for Sun formatted hard drives..
Thanks,
