original note got blown away
this sgi was reported not allowing logins
i sent email to the ta asking if we could reinstall
i just checked the system and someone saved something huge
to the local disk, root passwd is not the generic so I couldn't
tweak, will need a reinstall or the TA will need to tweak, we
can't do anything untill we hear back from the TA.
