The mechanics working on the Central Plant project are trying to isolate
the CUP from the distribution system by freezing the water inside a
section of pipe. This work is going more slowly than they had hoped, and
they have asked us to extend the 1:00 PM turn-on time another hour or so
until about 2:00 PM.

If this extension poses an undue problem, please call the Operations
Center at 3-1500. If we do not hear any objection, we will extend the
shutdown as indicated above.

>>Unanticipated difficulties have necessitated the extention of the
>>scheduled duration of the period of abnormal operation of the Central
>>Chilled Water System to 7:00 AM, Tuesday, March 25. Please note that
>>chilled water temperatures are elevated in some areas, particularly
>>those nearest Mass. Avenue.
>>
>>On Monday, March 17, Physical Plant will be adding a fifth chiller to
>>the Central Utilities Chiller Plant in order to permit PPL to carry
>>increased cooling loads and to improve the reliability of the system. In
>>order to complete the piping connections, it will be necessary to modify
>>normal operation of the Central Chilled water system for a four-day
>>period of time. The East Campus Plant, normally serving the area to the
>>East of Ames Street, will be fully operational. While this
>>interconnection is not capable of carrying normal summer loads, there is
>>more than adequate capacity for the winter loads.
>>
>>If you have any concerns about this, please feel free to contact me at
>>8-7872 or Carl Hagge at 3-4755 or Roger Moore at 3-2347.
>>
>>Thank you.
