I have tried to talk to a freind of mine outside MIT through our
computers, but it doesn't work.
I am on in the EAPS "private" athena cluster, on a sun
machine (Saturn), but I would also like to use the new machines
that have been intalled here, sometimes (I don't know the type.
there names are venus and mercury). I just arrived to MIT, and I am
not familiar (at all) weth allt he softwares that are available
her,but I used to use the command "talk username@etc..." to talk
withfriends. Now, here, the command seems to work, until it is
"checking for invitation on caller's machine" and after that it says
:"alarm clock", and returns me to the shell! I have little
experience of this kind opf station, but that's seems very strange a
behavior. Could you tell me what is wrong, if there is another
software that I could use (But I hope it doesn't require that the
other user have the same one: I don't think some of them have
anything excpet talk).

thasnks for your help.

Laurent Montesi.
