Here's the status so far:
I've been looking at this for about an hour now and so far I'm
stumped. All I can say for sure is the following:
1) It's not dependent on the user; root or not, the problem exists.
2) Tautog reports the same error when attempting to print to other
printers, such as nil.
3) The same behaviour occurs using the binary from tree-killer.
